  • "Technical Requirements for Biodiesel Assessment", the domestic first trade standard for biodiesel officially issued by China Association of Environmental Protection Industry (CAEPI) on April 20, 2011, is expected to regulate Chinese biodiesel industry in a comprehensive approach.
  • In early May 2011, COFCO signs an agreement with TMO to jointly produce fuel ethanol from cassava residue and cassava stalk in Guangxi Autonomous Region.
  • Chinese bio-energy industry has been listed in the category of "encouragement" from the 2011 Instruction (officially taking effect on June 1, 2011), which suggests that Chinese bio-energy industry will be actively encouraged and supported fiscally and politically by Chinese Central Government at least in the next five years .  
  • Biodiesel produced by enzymatic catalysis processes has not been commercialized on large scale in China, which needs more governmental supports to develop.
  • Since early 2011, several foreign companies have invested in Chinese bioenergy industry based on technical cooperation or capital investment, which might probably imply that China is attracting foreign investments in its bioenergy industry and has become an ideal host country for investors.
  • On May 18, 2011, board of directors of Angel Yeast, the largest producer of dried yeast and yeast extract in China, offically passed a resolution to set up a new plant for high activity dried yeast production in Liuzhou City in Guangxi Autonomous Region.
  • The current average price of tryptophan in China has dropped by around 30% compared with last year, with the price downtrend of tryptophan in the future, so the domestic consumption of tryptophan is expected to rise gradually.
  • On May 24, 2011, Meihua Group signed a cooperative framework agreement with Novozymes, expecting to co-develop a set of production techniques for amino acids (mainly referring to glutamic acid, lysine and threonine) based on cellulosic feedstock in the near future.
  • Because the price of its raw material declined, the average price of domestic bio-acrylamide decreased by 8.51% compared with that in April 2011.
  • Tianjin Green  plans to launch its new product, namely biodegradable PHA lunchbox, probably at the end of 2011.
  • Kingfa Sci. & Tech. Co., Ltd. (Kingfa) officially launched its new PBS resin production facilities with capacity of 30,000t/a located in Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province.
  • By now, Anhui Wanwei Updated High-tech Material Industry Co., Ltd. (Wanwei Updated High-tech) has already arranged three PVA production bases in China, which will cover the distribution networks over North China, East China and South China, reflecting its great ambitions to take over the whole Chinese market.
